STOLES WOVEN ON A DOBBY LOOM

Warp: Cotton 2 40s count tie-dyed
Weft: Cotton 2 40s count
This single-ikat (warp) stole was hand-dyed and hand-woven on a dobby loom. The project helped in understanding the labor-intensiveness, level of precision and challenges of making ikat fabric and was a precursor to the Graduation Project Collection.

Warp: Cotton Z high twist
Weft: Cotton S low twist
The two unstable yarns interact with each other and twist in opposite directions to form protrusions. Inspired by the organic texture of wild mushrooms, the stole scrunches into an organic form once boiled in water. It forms an off-loom textile that can shape itself.
